Roman Týc | Im Boden

05/05/2017 - 13/06/2017

Already the third exhibition of Roman Týc in the DSC Gallery, Im Boden, again presented author in his very intimate theme. Týc in it reflected his family history, his grandfather was a member of Revolutionary Guard Unit in Děčín and so he tried to cope with his acts. Many objects he digged in the ground himself; so some Wehrmacht badges, Communist stars, shovels, wires and rods could be seen. One of the exhibits were also bullets which he symbolically decorated with wings.

As Týc says, he did not want to blame or defend anyone through this exhibition, even though some objects were direct evidences of injustice, crimes and revenge, the consequences of which we carry today as a society. The author only wanted to outline the atmosphere of the times and show that the only difference between the Germans and the Czechs is just another language – what brings us together is culture.

The opening of the exhibition took place on the 5th of May, the anniversary day of The Prague Uprising.
